Country(s) of Origin: Central and South America (from Mexico down to Southern Brazil)

Colour: When freshly cut the heartwood is a dull purplish brown. Upon exposure the colour becomes a deeper eggplant purple. With further age and UV light exposure the wood becomes dark brown with a hint of purple.

Grain/ Texture: Grain is usually straight but can also be wavy. Has a medium texture.
